A Survey on Workflow Aspects in Content Management Systems

چکیده
Content Management Systems (CMS) are software platforms that strongly contribute to make organizations more agile, flexible and dynamic concerning the management of their contents: business-oriented structured and no-structured information. A CMS’s extra feature is Workflow support since it can allow task automation, ultimately increasing organizations productivity. While there are different kinds of Workflow platforms, this paper concentrates mostly in Content Management Workflow, analyzing key features like: Workflow definition, representation, instance management, content mapping and third-party application communication. Finally, it is also analyzed and discussed the workflow support in existing CMS such as Alfresco, Typo3, OpenADMS and Vignette.

Survey of Workflow Management Systems
Workflow management deals with supporting business processes in organisations, it involves managing the flow of work through an organisation [1]. Workflows are a collection of coordinated tasks designed to carry out a well-defined complex process [11]. A workflow management system is a generic information system that supports modelling, execution, management and monitoring of workflows. Many di...
متن کاملFormal frameworks for workflow modelling
We survey formal frameworks for workflow modelling. We summarise important aspects of workflow management and approaches to evaluate current workflow management systems. We discuss a number of formalisms for workflow modelling, namely Petri nets, Temporal Logic, and Transaction Logic. We decribe how these formalisms are used specifically for workflow modelling, their possibilities and their dis...
متن کاملCorrectness issues in workflow management
Workflow management is a technique to integrate and automate the execution of steps that comprise a complex process, e.g., a business process. Workflow management systems (WFMSs) primarily evolved from industry to cater to the growing demand for office automation tools among businesses. Coincidentally, database researchers developed several extended transaction models to handle similar applicat...
متن کاملFlowiXML: a step towards designing workflow management systems
This paper addresses the need for supporting the design of user interfaces for workflow management systems. Based on the already existing task and domain models, an approach is proposed to design a workflow model that explicitly articulates its new concepts with respect to the concepts belonging to the task and the domain, but with some extensions. The specifications of the workflow user interf...
متن کاملOn Secure Workflow Decentralisation on the Internet
Decentralised workflow management systems are a new research area, where most work to-date has focused on the system’s overall architecture. As little attention has been given to the security aspects in such systems, we follow a security driven approach, and consider, from the perspective of available security building blocks, how security can be implemented and what new opportunities are prese...
